Refresh Fading
Strengthen lines and revive color that has softened over the years.
Tattoos change over time. Lines soften, color fades, and healing sometimes leaves spots that need attention. Old Town Tattoo can review your healed tattoo and recommend a touch-up to bring back its clarity and contrast.
Touch-ups work on the tattoo you already have, so the goal is to restore it rather than redesign it.
Strengthen lines and revive color that has softened over the years.
Address small spots or patchy areas that did not hold ink evenly while healing.
Improve shading and depth so the tattoo reads clearly again.
Wait until your tattoo is fully healed, which usually takes a few weeks, before judging it or booking a touch-up. Some settling and flaking is normal during healing. Your aftercare routine has a big effect on how well the tattoo holds ink.
Bring clear photos of the tattoo in natural light, and tell us when and where it was done. Your artist will review the tattoo in person and let you know what is realistic and how long it may take.
Tip: Sun exposure fades tattoos faster. Daily sunscreen on healed tattoos helps them last longer between refreshes.
If a tattoo needs more than a refresh, such as changing the design, expanding it, or covering part of it, take a look at our cover-up and rework page. If you are ready for something new, see custom tattoos.
We look at your healed tattoo and talk through what you want improved.
Your artist explains what a touch-up can realistically achieve and how much time it may take.
The touch-up is done in our state-licensed studio, followed by the same aftercare as any new tattoo.
Wait until the tattoo is fully healed. Your artist can confirm when it is ready.
Many can. Some tattoos need more than a touch-up, such as a rework. Your artist will tell you which approach fits.
Please contact us with photos of the tattoo and we will let you know whether it is something we can work on.
